Between 1862 and 1865 George Barnard documented General William T. Sherman’s march from Tennessee to the sea. The photographs above show the landscape in the aftermath of the Battle of Resaca, one of the key battles of the campaign. Barnard’s photographs were produced as an album of sixty one albumen silver prints, titled, Photographic Views of Sherman’s Campaign (1866).
